Haiti, 1936-1937
From December 1936 through April 1937, Alan Lomax and Elizabeth Lomax recorded the songs and religious ceremonies of Haiti, while occasionally bumping into Zora Neale Hurston and other ethnographers. The notebooks compiled by Lomax are filled with vivid descriptions of expressive culture and include long narratives about Vodou practices.
This project contains Haitian Creole, a Creole derived from French. Please insert letters with the correct accents. Visit History Hub to find out how.
