Young People's Concerts

  • 100% Completed
Out of all of Bernstein’s education outreach, nothing had a greater impact than his Young People’s concerts — 53 concerts from 1958 until 1972. While he didn’t invent the concept, Bernstein’s were the first to be televised, ultimately syndicated in over 40 countries. The films were shown in schools, excerpts published in a book, and inspired and influenced generations of young people to pursue careers in music. Here we have Bernstein’s original draft scripts, handwritten on yellow legal pads, and the final typescripts used for broadcast, tracking the evolution from inspiration to fruition.
