Enthusiastic reformer Henry Browne Blackwell corresponded with many of the leaders in both the women’s rights and the abolition movements. Henry supported the women’s suffrage movement by founding the American Woman Suffrage Association with his wife, Lucy Stone, and others. His papers also include extensive financial records as well as autobiographical sketches. Handwritten autobiographical material is accompanied by transcripts made by his only daughter, Alice Stone Blackwell.

Henry Browne Blackwell corresponded with many of his Blackwell family members, including his siblings, Anna, Marian, Elizabeth, Samuel, Emily, and Sarah Ellen; his sister-in-law Antoinette Brown Blackwell; and his niece Kitty Barry Blackwell.
