Enthusiastic reformer Henry Browne Blackwell supported the women’s suffrage movement by founding the American Woman Suffrage Association with his wife, Lucy Stone, and others. His papers also include extensive financial records as well as autobiographical sketches. Handwritten autobiographical material is accompanied by transcripts made by his only daughter, Alice Stone Blackwell.

Henry Browne Blackwell corresponded with leaders in both the women’s rights and the abolition movements, including Susan B. Anthony, John and Isabella Hooker, Julia Ward Howe, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
