Enthusiastic reformer Henry Browne Blackwell corresponded with many of the leaders in both the women’s rights and the abolition movements as well as many of his Blackwell family members, including his sisters in the medical profession, Elizabeth Blackwell and Emily Blackwell. Henry supported the women’s suffrage movement by founding the American Woman Suffrage Association with his wife, Lucy Stone, and others. His papers also include extensive financial records as well as autobiographical sketches.

These documents include Henry Browne Blackwell’s autobiographical papers, including transcripts by his daughter Alice Stone Blackwell, and drafts and printed copies of speeches, articles, and poems. Many of Blackwell’s articles appeared in the Woman’s Journal.
