The Chicago Ethnic Arts Project reports, including the Final Report, bring together the research of the team of fieldworkers tasked with documenting diverse cultural communities and social groups across late 1970s Chicago. One of the main aims of the project was to assess the need for institutional support of Chicagoans cultural activities. As such, reports also discuss project methods and proposals for meeting its main aims. One legacy of the project that continues today is the Ethnic and Folk Arts Master/Apprenticeship program of the Illinois Arts Council, which was established in the early 1980s. Reports here include finalized fieldworker reports and an assessment on the project’s progress.
