Political Materials

The material in this project reflects William Oland Bourne’s political activism in New York City, particularly with the Workingmen’s Democratic Republican Association, for which he served as corresponding secretary. Items include handbills, broadsides, printed publications, and draft manuscripts of letters and appeals on behalf of the organizations with which Bourne associated. Three of these items are written in German. In addition to the overtly political materials are printed and manuscript copies of poems and writings by Bourne and others.
