Letterbooks, 1853-1867
Louis M. Goldsborough’s letterbooks primarily date from 1853 to 1857, when Goldsborough served as the superintendent of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and largely contain copies of Goldsborough’s official outgoing correspondence. The third letterbook likewise contains copies of outgoing correspondence, but reflects his time as a rear admiral overseeing the European Squadron just after the end of the American Civil War.
