Montgomery Bus Boycott Notes and Letters

This section includes notes and letters written by Rosa Parks during the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Rosa Parks ‎participated in the planning and coordination of carpools, which made the boycott possible. Her notes ‎contain instructions to passengers and drivers, encouraging both to be patient. Also included is a 1955 ‎Hallmark datebook printed for the Montgomery Fair department store where Parks worked as an ‎assistant tailor. Parks repurposed the datebook as a notebook during the 1956 boycott. Among her ‎notes are lists of bus witnesses, carpool drivers, and NAACP workers, and notes and letters relating ‎to legal matters and speaking engagements. Three letters written by Parks in 1956-1957 to people outside the family discuss her arrest, the boycott, and her speaking tours.
