Highlights Douglass’s move to Washington, D.C. after the Civil War. He became the editor-in-chief and owner of the New National Era. He was also appointed U.S. Marshall for the District of Columbia and served as the president of the ill-fated Freedman’s Bank. Correspondents include Anna E. Dickinson, Henry O.
